I have a Van Alstine modified Dynaco ST-150. The only moving part is the power switch. It stopped working. Lucky for me it is stuck on the on position, so I am using a power strip to turn it off.
Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? Suggestions for substitute?

Many years ago a friend had the big Eagle 7 amp from John Iverson. That had such a large draw with turn on that no switch was included. Iverson recommended simply plugging and unplugging.
That could be a hassle so my friend installed a knife-switch in line and used that instead.

The power switch in my preamp switches a big AC relay in an electrical box which in turn switches my power amps.

Sorry for the delay. got caught up in a painting project.This unit I built from a kit back in the mid 80s and ran it for a bunch of years then a friend blew it up. I then used the chassis for "Dick Smith" MOSFET modules and in the last few years ClassDaudio modules.
Let me know if this is the correct switch.

Thanks for the picture. I have the narrow switch. At this point I am using the amp with a remote controlled switch.
The slot for the power switch on the ST150 is narrow (as the OP mentioned above). This picture is from US Audio Mart, but looks like the ST150 I owned and used all through college. Any replacement switch will need to fit that slot.
That's why I posted a picture of the power switch. Mine is the reissues from the 80s. Looks like the switch in mine won't work.
I built an ST150 in the mid 70s and eventually blew it up too playing with the power supply. But before that when I picked the amp up I asked about adding power supply capacitance and was told by Dynaco the more the better. When told you could squeeze 8 caps in I bought 6 caps and it worked for years. The 1st problem was the on off switch finally gave in probably due to the extra on surge of the extra caps.
Have you considered speaking with AVA? Frank may have a source.
When all else fails, ask the manufacturer!
Any high quality DPDT switch rated for the current should work just fine-
if you want a cosmetic match - one that looks the same - it may be possible- but match the V & As first...

Thanks for the information. I was hoping to match the switch as the slot in the front fascia is very narrow. Trying to keep away from having to modify the sheet metal. I guess I could get a toggle switch for the amp. but that would not be ideal.
