Hi Moray J,

I ordered the 3M maroon pads you mentioned in another post on Thursday, and they are due to arrive tomorrow.

My finger nail brushes are a little smaller than the ones you mentioned. They are 3 1/8 X 1 3/4 with about a 1/4" recess.

Looking forward to following your lead, and trying the pads stuffed into the recess of the brushes.

Thank you for sharing all the info on the brushes, as they work great in my modest system!!!..Perhaps the 3M pads will take it a notch up.....

old guy 42 you are most welcome and than you for your feedback. I hope you enjoy playing with your brushes and pads. Remember to make use you curt the gad so it is a snug fit in the base of the brush and also make sure that the pad extends past the lip of the brush cup by about a 1/16" as well.
What I am dong now is to cut the pads into long strips and then rolling them up like a cinnamon roll and use a little glue to fix the roll at each end so it will not come apart, a wrap of scotch tape will hold the pad secure until the adhesive sets up. The width of the strip used is set to be about 1/16" - 1/8" or so wider than the height of the stock component foot. In this way you can place sections of roll anywhere you like under the component chassis and be assured that the factory feet don't touch the shelf. Small diametre rolls like this are stiffer than an equivalent thickness of the pads stacked horizontally and they are more effective this way. You can be far more discriminating with your placement than is possible with the much larger brush. I prefer the pad roll to the brush. This is also very cost effective. Quality roller blocks can cost well over $300.00 for a set of 3 pcs. by comparison rolled pads are virtually free. If you remove the stock component feet and install pad rolls you can make the rolls a 1/2" tall and this results in a very discrete install which I like performance is excellent with pad rolls of this height. Multiple rolls can be placed around sections of the chassis where there is greater weight or vibration such as transformers or at vibration sensitive positions such as under a row of chassis mounted voltage regulators (mounted to the chassis for heat sinking purposes or transport mound in the case of a CD or DVD/bluray player etc.). I look forward to reading of your findings.

  I have "stuffed" the brushes under the head amp only with the 3m product and for my first impression, I find less "vividness" in the mids, but, to me, a more spacious and wider presentation with less emphasis on sibilants...YMMV...
  
  I have rolled the 3m product yesterday to 5/8" rolls to be installed today, and again, only under the head amp. The other pieces only have the stock brushes under them. I am going about this one piece at a time.
  
  I look forward to trying different combos on all the pieces, so it will keep me busy, which is a good thing!!
