the battery is hooked up backwards
Not according to Unclestu's sketch, it isn't. (Apologies for uploading an archived copy: I can't find the original post.) In essence, it's the circuit I and AFAIK everyone else uses. It works.

The battery is hooked up according to the schematic but....The battery ground tweak page says,
"He speculated further that he believes the wire stored electrons, creating a sort of pool which was readily available for the workings of the component's circuit. Remember that electrons are negatively charged and thus the electromotive force comes primarily from the ground or negative terminals."and that is true. Electrons flow from the negative terminal towards the positive terminal.
In a circuit, the electrons flow from ground (the grounded side of the power supply) up through the cathode resistor to the cathode, across the vacuum inside the tube to the plate, through the plate resistor (or the primary winding of the output transformer) and then to the positive side of the power supply.
*an easy way to think about this is, what we call the positive terminal is the terminal that is "lacking or wanting" electrons. Electrons are negatively charged so when a terminal is "missing" or "lacking" in something that is negatively charged we call that the "positive" terminal.*
If the battery is going to "add" electrons into this loop the battery needs to have it's positive terminal connected to the circuit so that the electrons can get out of the battery and into the circuit.
With the battery connected the way the schematic shows (with the negative terminal connected) there is no way the electrons can ever get out of the battery and into the circuit because electrons flow (just as the "battery ground tweak page says) from negative to positive.
BTW all four 10,000uf caps are hooked up backwards too. The film cap doesn't care, it's non-polarized. Electrons are free to flow either direction through it. But, here's the part I left out...electrons need a reason to flow and they don't have one. So the whole thing is just silly.

electrons need a reason to flow and they don't have one. So the whole thing is just silly.
1. Your argument strikes me as unsound because it confuses an observation (the BGT as described by its inventor changes the sound of an audio system) with hearsay speculation as to cause, calls that speculation a theory - which it isn't - and dismisses the observation as false on a priori grounds.
2. It seems also to assume that there is no potential difference between the battery's negative terminal and the extended ground line to which it is attached, i.e. that that ground has zero impedance along its length, typically several metres.
3. Assuming the BGT effect is real (opinions differ), electron drift is probably a minor player. I'd be looking at rapid fluctuations in the ground line (digital engineers' 'ground bounce') and whether a BGT device changes them.
Whatever, I'd hesitate to say it's just silly or resort lazily to the "you're all deluded" claim. But what do I know?

To borrow the expression of another inmate....Nice word salad!
It sucks to get old. It really sucks to get old and bitter.

"I know just enough to get into trouble. But not enough to get out of it."
It does seem silly, and I don't have a clue why that works.
Even my brother who has a doctorate in EE (specialization DC power) couldn't think of an explanation, but he agrees that the BGT makes a difference in sound. Being an audiophile, I'll go out on a limb and say it's an improvement ;)
it should make an even bigger difference when the caps and the battery are connected the other way around.
Will you try it for me and let me know?

You can try, but I'm not going to connect the positive of a battery to any point of my system ;)
With the other side of the battery not connected to anything no current will flow. It'd not going to harm anything. Trust me on this. I design and build my own tube preamps and power amps and have been doing so for decades. I know how this stuff works and connecting one side of a battery (and/or caps) to the ground side of your unit will not harm it.Are you fearful of something?

The battery symbol is orientated wrong.
Regardless, this whole thing is hilarious. Some of you guys will believe anything. :)
Dave.
I wasn't going to go into the other reason this will not work. I was just pointing out that according to their own theory....The battery is hooked up backwards....
