"Your drawing shows the transformer housing grounded on the input side if I am reading it correctly."
The difference is that in your situation you have only a transformer. The drawing assumes there is some metal box housing the transformer. For safety that metal box should be grounded. Further, the ground on the primary side is connected to the ground on the secondary female receptacle and any metal box would be connected to that common ground.
In your photo I see only two wires going into the female receptacle from the secondary: I don't see any connection to the ground. That's not correct. The ground wire from the primary side cable must be connected to the female receptacle ground.

Roger on that. It's hard to see in the photo, but bottom center is the end of a green wire with a yellow terminal on it. That will be connected to the female ground via another wire. Is there any reason why I shouldn't ground the housing of the transformer, or is that totally unnecessary?
Vinnie, I think that a much safer female for the secondary side would be one as illustrated below. You don't need to ground the transformer but put the whole thing in a box or behind a panel with the female connector protruding on a 16 Gauge extension cord cable that has all three wires in a rubber sheath.

Roger on that. That has been the plan all along. Just trying to get the hookup order correct before putting it in an enclosure. Thanks.

Vinnie you need to pay attention. Also that Rube Goldburg you have needs to be cleaned up.
Uncle Mike, you need to read my posts before you reply to them. I said I was planning on putting it in a case when I had the wiring right. If I build a wooden case grounding the transformer might be a good idea, that's why I asked. As for the Rube Goldberg part, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. That is the way I found it at the hamfest. I never said I was planning on leaving it that way.

Vinnie
You are right, always right, do lovely work and everything you do is spot on correct.
Myself I would be ashamed to post a picture of that kind of work no matter what stage but I'm not the expert you are.
