Hi Pixelphoto,
You have provided me with EXCELLENT info, Pixelphoto!! In fact, just what I wanted to know, that you have had no issues with your unit.
This AM I ordered mine. It's the 15V-DC unit that will be delivered between 7/3 and 7/24.
Also, thanks VERY much for the link to your mod!!! I was kicking around an idea to hard-wire the DC cable, but your mod looks like a great idea!!...-.old guy 42

Hi old guy 42. We can credit the mod info to Duster. In fact he has pretty much helped me build my system using his suggestions.

Hi Pixelphoto & Duster,
Just wanted to let you both know how much more I enjoy my music with this Zerozone piece installed. The big surprise, to me, was the improvement of detail in the mids, and especially in the treble!!! Bass and slam are excellent also. Much musical enjoyment from my very modest system.
I also installed the Oyaide dc connector with VH Audio's V-Quad cu 21. I also used my 13 ga Neotech NEP 3003 AC power cable with Furutech F-11 (cu) at both ends.
Thank you to both Inmates for your suggestions!!!
I'm not very good at taking pics.....
That's great old guy 42. It's fascinating how a piece of cable or connector can make such a positive change in the sound of a audio system. It just keeps on getting better and better especially when we help one another.
Hi Pixelphoto,
In my effort to be brief, I neglected to write that the Zerozone unit just arrived yesterday. I did not even try the stock dc cable, but hard-wired the V-Quad cable with the Oyaide connector as soon as I got the Zerozone out of the box. It's the whole combo that I'm enjoying!!!
You gave me the idea to change out the dc cable and Duster suggested which dc cable and connector to use.
So, thanks to both of you!!!
Hi old guy 42,
I'm glad you enjoy the devices. Your DIY DC umbilical project looks great. Hardwiring the DC umbilical with the use of that heavy-duty strain relief bushing was an excellent decision. Perhaps you can share more information about it. Was the size of the hole for the stock DC jack a perfect size for the bushing, or did you need to modify the opening? What make/model and size bushing did you choose?
Cheers, Duster

Hi Duster,
Thank you for the kind words. I bought the strain relief pieces on a lark. I did not yet have the Zerozone in my possession to measure. As it turned out, it was a perfect fit for the stock opening!!!..No modification required, at least on the Zerozone model I bought.
As far as the clamp down size, I did check the diameter of the VH Audio V-Quad, and this size strain relief would be good to go for the V-Quad diameter. It could be tightened down nicely with a firm grip on the wire.
I had everything ready to go when the Zerozone arrived. It was straight forward work. Only thing, it was tedious work to hook up the V-Quad to the screw-down connectors inside the case. Check the pic and see the stock interior wire. I did not need the Furu push-on terminals.
I have 8 of these strain relief jobbies on hand if anyone needs same...
Thanks for the tip on the V-Quad and Oyaide connector!!!
Hi Pixelphoto,
Then a "thank you" goes out to Duster also.....

Hi old guy 42,
The Zerozone 50VA PSU if the same as Pixelphoto's should perform excellent with your Topping D-30 DAC. I use mine for a vital digital component, and a DAC/headphone amplifier for an important CATV/home theater application. I find the sonic signature of the PSU provides a strong bottom end, good midrange texture, and a detailed treble characteristic. It's definitely high-performance, in my opinion. As Pixelphoto found (thanks for the kudos, Marvin), an excellent DC umbilical is vital in terms of superior sound quality. An audiophile-quality AC power cord is also required if not mandatory for optimized performance. Treat it like a high-performance audio device, and it should perform in a likewise fashion, IME.
Cheers, Duster

Hi Duster,
Thanks for the info!!!
I have 2 good AC power cords to try out on the LPS. I'll probably quiz Chris from VH Audio about his thoughts on a DC cable.
Checking out my parts box for footers and such. Have some maple and bamboo boards to try also. Should be FUN!!!!
Link added for the Zerozone LPS I purchased today.....

That's the one, old guy 42. VH Audio just released a new cable for DC umbilical use. It's the V-Quad Cu21 cable with an 18 AWG aggregate gauge cross section, so it's excellent for low-current and medium-current applications. The price is affordable for a short-length DIY DC umbilical project. Make sure to also order a stellar Oyaide DC plug from ChrisVH for the load end of the DC umbilical, since there is no other product that is near its performance-level.

Hi Duster,
Thanks again for this VERY useful info!!..I thought I would need a 15 gauge wire for the DC power cord. Also, that was an excellent find for that Oyaide DC connector. I did not know Chris had them for sale.
I only require a 2' run of the V-21, so this is going to be affordable for me.
Take care....old guy 42
