First off, many cathode followers have alot more than 50 volts on them.I dont have a schematic for the output stage in his dac .It could have easily had 150 volts on it depending on the designers wishes, as most do that are direct coupled to the 1st tubes plate.
Look up tube line stage schematics and see for yourself.
Second, the RCA jacks, the output relays, the interconnects ,the preamps input switching and the volume pot now all have DC voltage on them,NONE of those parts are designed to operate with 50 OR 150 volts on them. He's very lucky he didn't ruin any parts or his preamp doing what he did.
50 volts running through his interconnects?50 volts through the volume pot?For real you dont see a problem with that?
I really am trying to be reserved and polite with my assessment of what transpired with this "TWEAK".

Looks like some good points. That's why I check and people should always check with electronics trained folks when doing this type of thing.T456

Wouldn't it be best to leave the advice giving to the "electronics trained folks"?
Believe it or not, if someone gets hurt you can be held responsible.
