I think you'll find that at the low voltage rating required for the BGT, a 2.2uF film cap will be smaller in physical size than a 50,000uF electrolytic. I would suggest trying a polystyrene film cap; I think you can find one in that value rated for 50V, which is already overkill.
1uf/250V MKP10 is compact and great soundwise.
