To clarify, I believe Mike B is referring to the earlier mentioned Schurter Brand fuse as having less benefit due to it's use of nickel.
I have tried Synergistic Research original, Synergistic Research RED, Isoclean, Furotech and cryo'd ordinary fuses.
In my systems, I found the Synergistic Research fuses to give the greatest benefit. When auditioning fuses, I found it cheaper to try fuses that give a money back trial if not satisfied.
It can be more fun and satisfying than tube rolling.

I find that in my experience I get much more benefit changing the topology of the amplifier or changing from one family of tubes to a different type than I do farting around with trivial issues like nickel plating on fuses. When I recently re-engineered my amps so as to ditch the 6922 family for the E180F, the sound changed dramatically for the better: a layer of electronic glare disappeared. That's the level of change that really makes a dramatic difference: that's what interests me.
It seems that those qualified to change fuses amuse themselves doing so, those qualified to roll tubes amuse themselves doing so, and those who understand electronics amuse themselves by engineering different gain stages, quiet and robust power supplies, and trying different amplifier topologies.
I really have no interest in becoming an audiophool who worries if his fuse has nickel coating. I build my power supplies to be low impedance and quiet. There is no "bad news" for me regarding nickel plated fuses. As my boss used to say, "that's in the 'noise level.'" I'm looking for dramatic improvements.
That would be correct. I am referring to the mass produced fuses. I have no experience with the Synergistic Research fuse which I assume they have made to their specs?
