I've been scouring the net for basics in electronics and there is NOWHERE that will give me basic outline on how to wire this up. Even others' questions on forums results in people getting high and mighty, telling them to go do a course or read a book or get an expert to do it. It can't be that hard and we aren't idiots.
So, this isn't a typical US duplex that you wire in at one point - 2 connections need to be made. Have I got the right idea in my diagram? Also, the ground is connected only at the first one because only the amp is grounded, not the CD player. Is it right to do it like that or will some interference or something be caused by the ground running along side the cables that power the CD player?

Don't forget to wire the ground on the other outlet
You diagram looks good to me.
In the US white (neutral) goes
to the silver screw and black
(hot wire)goes to the brass screw.
In Europe blue is neutral and brown
is hot. In the US all ground connections
are wired and thats what I would do
with your outlet.

White to silver - black to brass. I'm sure that must be what you
meant to say.

I have edited my post.
I need to proof read
my posts more than once
I see.
Thanks
That's good to hear. Just managed to google out some sites that go into a little detail about star wiring vs series wiring. http://www.hifi-advice.com/extensionblocks-serial-star-info.html for example.
Mine is a series but is it likely to affect the performance of the components? How much of a difference do you think it would make whether CD player or Amp were plugged in first? Is it system dependent or is the fact that I only have two sockets with 4mm2 (10awg) wiring mean any deleterious effects are negligible?
With regards to the ground, my CD player and power cable dont use one. Does the socket still need to be wired? Will the extra wiring input any kind of contamination?
Sorry about the noob questions, I really know nothing about electrical theory.
Do we really need to overthink everything?
yes
I would plug the amp in the socket
that is your first wire connection.
Really probably not much difference.
I would wire the grounds as it is
for circuit protection. That's how
we do it in the US, I have no idea
how it's done in Poland.
I'd wire the ground to both. Since the CDP doesn't have but a two prong plug you're fine.
