Here is a link to Wimas MP-3 X2 cap that Al Sekela used in his AC filter. No polarity marks and never a mention by Al or anyone else regarding polarity. I've built many and never had a problem except once and that was a wiring error by me.

Thanks for the link, most kind of you and I shall read it. I tried to find a manufacturers spec sheet from Topmay on their X-2 cap, but had no luck.
You can easily hear the latter in resolving system, including changing direction of a stock fuse. Would you expect that to be mentioned by the manufacturer?
Me neither. Meanwhile, there are pretty plausible speculations, including in this forum, as to why it could actually be the case (from manufacturing standpoint).

These X2 caps are just safety caps best used for their "safety" when connected to AC. Most people here use them for AC filtration. I agree with the fact there are subtle diffs in sound with fuses and NP caps when reversed. These are NP too but a lower quality that I'd never use with an audio signal.
