More bogus claims. Your electrical outlets and house wiring will have to be in terribly poor condition for arcing to occur. If you ever have any "arcing" in your plugs or outlets, you'll certainly be able to see it and probably even be able to smell it. Turn off all the lights, you'll easily be able to see the faint glow of the arc in the darkness. Just make sure your house insurance is paid up.
If you are worried about arcing, use a little bit of dielectric grease, the same stuff they use on automotive electrical such as spark plug wires.

grease, but IIRC, the chief rational for its development was that Ford placed their on board automotive computers under the hood where the elements could get to the contacts and causing deterioration. The grease was designed to seal and waterproof those connectors and not interfere with the electrical contacts.
