It must have something to do with those Oyaide XXX outlets!!
All our systems are fine balances between competing sound spectrums, it appears. For me, the teflon tweak was so dramatic even as I went from component to component: From CD to pre-amplifier were the biggest changes for me, from almost unlistenable to very listenable.
I use just ordinary Home Depot outlets so far. I'm at the point where I am going to let the tweaks rest. No crystals for me. Once you get to that point, perhaps, there is no place left for tweaking.

why have you kept them? How long have you endured this?
True. I could not tolerate CD for that long. Well, when CD first came out, I was kind of infatuated with it and my analog front end was not up to snuff either.
However, I've been meaning to post on this that for the first time in ... years, I LIKE MY STEREO!!
So, this tweak may have been added to a bunch of previous tweaks, but that's what it takes. You are either an audiophile that will pursue the sound you want until the very end, or you are not ;-)
Regarding Oyaide products, the outlets and AC male/female plugs are the most neutral of all those I've implemented although of the Furutech products I've implemented, these give the Oyaide's a strong run for the money and could swing either way depending on system/component balancing.
This is most likely the reason the Teflon tape tweak was a sonic disaster when I implemented it on several critical AC connectors in my system although I could see that the tweak applied to say a contractor grade AC connector would definately make an improvement by damping the resonances being transfered from the plug body to the blades/pin.
It's interesting to note that the further I/we explore in AC connector integrity, the better the sonic results because if one thinks about it, the sound of one's system is directly hinged on the quality/solidity of the AC power.
On a side note, a great budget tweak if you have a high def plasma or LCD monitor, cut off the stock AC connector on the power cord and connect an Oyaide AC male plug... :-)

...selecting and optimizing the HDTV in the surround system, and would be amazed to have it even better.
Usually when I have spare $ I want to spend it on the music room, but I suppose I could make an exception. Once. I got tired of spending a fortune on things like Lexicon processors that soon were outdated.
Thanks, Steve
out of the pockets of audiophiles/videophiles. That why they have 7.1 loudspeakers!
