You are correct, such a process does exist. Now, is a device being marketed to audiophiles capable of such a feat on the air we breathe? Nope.
I'm not saying that the device isn't audible. It's the theory-of-operation that I have a problem with. They would be better off saying they don't know how it works, but it works. Tell it like it is, don't go for the "deer in the headlights" explanation for those who do not know better. But with that being said, that might account for some if not most of their sales.

In a listening room, having an audible affect? I assure you it does not.
