After acquisition of a new Monarchy Audio DIP 48/96 Upsampler for use in my computer audio system, I found the small stock feet of the device to be unsatisfactory. One reason being they provided no horizontal stability when placed on a precarious surface not ideal for audiophile use, as often can happen when small footprint gear is placed in a computer audio rig.
While recently shopping at Lowe's for home plumbing parts, I came upon an interesting product intended as gripper feet for furniture-to-floor use. The compliant, low-profile 5/16-inch high, 1-1/2-inch wide base pads gently taper to a 3/4-inch wide center cushion interface featuring a few dozen little raised nubs intended for weight absorption, and as I've found, very horizontally grippy goodness.
I dare to say they really sound quite good, too. The noise floor seems to have been lowered. I found the normally default volume setting for the system playback needed to be set a small notch higher in level to provide the same gestalt, this time with a perceived blacker background and a certainly more dynamic soundstage presentation, to my ear.
For under 5 bucks per set of four, the Waxman SoftTouch Grippers are worth experimenting with for various audiophile applications, not to mention precocious furniture that may tend to scoot around the room...

I'm trying the Painter's Pyramid which are available at Home Depot for $6 for 10.
Now stick some moretite/rope caulk in there and its a damped footer too!
I'll walk out with $500 worth of merchandise if I wander around looking for them.

Heck if I know! I ain't no genius.
The Waxman products were located a couple rows from the fasteners in a display at the end of an isle. A salesperson can (should be able to) point you to the right spot...

Harder than the sorbothane pucks, I assume?
I keep trying Vibrapods under stuff and I never leave them there. I'd think a compliant footer under a CD transport would make sense, but my AudioAlchemy lost the race...everything sounded slower.
I've never been very fond of spikes...I really like what they do for equipment but triangulating them is a royal pain. My cats KNOW two things:
When I put equipment onto spikes and when I dress all of the wires. They hardly ever fight until I do that. I wouldn't be writing this if you didn't know where they choose to fight!

They are firmer than sorbothane but still quite compliant. They don't feel like they are made of polyurethane, neoprene, nor silicone. I can't find info on the web about the specific material.
