same effect as adding ferrite beads, or clamp-on ferrite RF stoppers.

Al, IME experience hamatite beads have a similar effect to clamp-on ferrites, except hamatite gives better results. Thanks geofkait! Putting on too many ferrite beads can deteriorate the sound, whereas I have put hematite all over the place and it just keeps getting better. Thanks to another poster, I recently ran a string of hematite beads around my speaker cone housings immediately in front of the magnet to great effect. The combined effect of placing the hematite in all of the places I have posted has been mildly (or more) exhilarating. But be careful regarding placement. As unclestu has posted and I have discovered to my chagrin, hematite is slightly conductive.
kendo
Hematite is ferrous oxide, a rather different animal from ferrites, which are iron.
Ferrites are a mix of Zinc, Manganese, and ferrous oxides (Fe203).
