I have ordered a half dozen Signature CBF's, but have not yet received them. Since I don't have them in hand, I was wondering what the crystals container's are made of and if anyone had tried putting the crystals in containers made of differing materials and what the results of any listening tests might be. My thought was that if one used a copper container or a brass container, would it block the RFI/EMI from getting to the crystals or would it act as a lens and incease the crystals ability to do what they do. Perhaps wood, variety/species of wood, density of wood, specific gravity of wood, etc., tons of variables here. Thinking out loud, so to speak, and was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts on the matter?
Follow Ups:
First, he uses mostly that ubiquitous black plastic type of project box, albeit a slimmer design. That appears to me to be the usual ABS. His larger filters use a grayish box which could be ABS or PVC.
Second, I'm using crystals in a variety of "containers". Saran Wrap inside plugs, freezer bags, ABS boxes from Radio Shack, clear plastic, and even aluminum. All seem to work the same as in the original boxes to my ears in my system.
Alan also adds some type of fluid to the crystals. Maybe silicone?
I also use loose crystals in a varierty of containers from aluminum foil to putty similar to Blu-Tac.

I doubt it's silicone.
