I'm looking for 4 VPI "magic" bricks. Does anyone here know where I can buy some, an equivilent or how to truly DIY some?

The bricks are simply stacks of ferrous sheet metal about 10 gauge thick housed in a wooden container for appearance. They work primarily by capturing magnetic fields and of course the mass certainly adds dampening.A simple way to obtain the magnetic properties is to simply use a old E-I core transformer and use it where you would place the magic brick. Remember that the transformer cores are directional, as is the Magic Brick, so experiment with different orientations.

If you elect not to cut an transformer core off the laminations, short out the transformer leads.

I have several and someone told me that these were made with pieces of lead inside a wooden box. Should be easy to DIY.
Alternately you could try fabricating some using Mu metal or transformer laminations inside a wooden box. I think this might actually be more effective.
T'aint lead inside, it's mu metal.
Then I guess my alternate suggestion was a good one :)
Well, a lucky one, anyway.
