I see your point but I must say that it might be a little nit picky. After all how many really good audio racks are made of sand filled steel tubing? The idea of adding a couple steel points to the feet of a rack having more effect than brass doesn't seem to me to be a problem.
Also as I look around at my equipment I see only 1 piece besides my TT's that doesn't have a steel chassis. Granted I don't have the most high end equipment (mostly DIY and restored vintage) but it really does sing!
Just my humble opinion, and I'm known to be easily swayed.

Ferrous metals in the presence of your audio equipment can be deleterious to your sonics. Yes, an awful lot of equipment is made with steel, as well as a lot of stands. That doesn't mean it's the best thing around!
FWIW, I do use copper in my stands. That might have its own problems, but none I've noted so far.
I was just offering a suggestion. If all you can get when you need it is the steel bob, then do it by all means. If you check online prices enough, though, you can get brass not very expensively.
Hope I didn't sound "snarky" in my reply.
I really only brought up the plumb bobs because the OP's pics reminded me of them. Left to my own devices I would opt for the 4oz brass stanley's I pic'd in my "idea" post. Mostly because they would have more aesthetic appeal.
FWIW I'm always looking for items that can be re-purposed creatively. The plumb bob (either/or) could be kind of cool. Of course I could just order some cones for a pittance more but then you have the shipping cost, wait time, and credit card issues. Plus it's just not as much fun as running down the street to the local hardware store and getting crafty.
By the way, those cones you linked don't actually say if they are brass or plated steel. Maybe I missed it. If I did disregard.
A major part of my enjoyment of this hobby is going to the local hardware store and figuring out new uses for old hardware that take a real bite out of the "value" of the high priced tweaks! Not everyone would agree, though. YMMV
