My good friend Kenster (Hi Ken :)and I continue to agree to disagree on this one. In my comparisons, the Teslaplex was more open and transparent than the R1, while the R1 was more tonally lush and moved instruments more forward in the soundstage. I preferred the Telaplex as Bart did.
As with comparisons of any two worthy products, opinions will vary according to system synergy and personal taste. The shame of it is, it seems that the Teslaplex seldom gets an audition among potential R1 buyers despite its 30%+ lower price and SR's dealer-provided free in-home audition prior to purchase. Go figure...
I do encourage Kenster to try the Teslaplex with the WPZ-C wallplate as I found it to improve the refinement of the Teslaplex's sound just the right amount.

Hi Dave,
I do have a spare Teslaplex that I can do a shootout with the R1 in a WPC-Z wallplate in my big rig and one of these days, I promise to get around to it and report out the results.
I've noticed you have been absent from AA and Audiogon for quite some time. I hope all is well my friend...
Cheers

I never tested the Teslaplex, but have tested: Oyaide, Furu, P&S and Hubbell and prefer the Oyaide R1 over all comers so far.
bartc,
See two posts above my original (posbwp55@msn.com - signed Bart).
I would agree that the R1 significantly betters all the ones you listed (excepting the Teslaplex). Try the Teslaplex and let it settle for a week before serious auditioning, although it should sound really afer just a few hours. I would be interested in your findings vs the R1.
Any mistakes I make! I am on a very small budget and cannot afford to buy an outlet on spec just for testing. Someone else will have to step up here.
I can certainly understand the budget constraint Bart. Times are tight. I haven't spent anything on audio in a while either.
However, should you be interested in trying the Teslaplex, I have an SR dealer (email me) that will send you a Teslaplex for free trial (you pay UPS shipping back and forth). If you prefer the R1, then you are only out shipping. If you prefer the Teslaplex, then you can sell the R1 on Agon and probably break even.
Either way, enjoy your system and good luck.
I'm not in the market for changing out AC connections at this time to a new line. It would have to knock my socks off and at the same time be cheap as dirt. Not a combo I expect the Teslaplex to present.
Frankly, my experiments with other filtering mechanisms have proven more impactful than outlets or plugs to date. So I"m putting my energies there mostly.
Fair enough. Your call of course. Good luck.
