I'd like to add high-quality remote volume control capability to my home-built (by a friend)tube preamp. It would be nice if it could fit inside the box (available space is roughly 2" long by 1 1/2" in diameter), but space may not be a problem since I could extend the faceplate to the side and reroute the wires to make room for it. Input impedance is 50K Ohms.
Alps anyone? Which one?
Thanks

Thanks much. I guess I'll forgo the convenience of a motorized contol for the fidelity of a stepped attenuator.
Cheers
Bent Audio has a motorized remote control for the DACT stepped attenuator. I put one in my preamp and it is a thing of beauty. Didn't require much room either. It used to be available from a couple of sources , not sure how easy it is to find these days.
DIY HiFi Supply has a less expensive motorized remote also, using a more traditional potentiometer
Use a stepped DACT with the motor. Pricey but hard to beat.
Michael Percy sells a TDK motorized pot, but it's about $110.
