You didn't even read my post. OMG!
As you have said you have only read only a few pages of the NEC book.
I would be careful of telling others that Code says hard wiring the wall end is alright, I am pretty sure your wrong!
I DON'T promote going hard wired, but I do share my experience when asked.
Because you are NOT a licence Electrician you should be careful when advising others, when your not even sure it's allowed yourself.

While it's a good thing to warn folks that AC is potentially lethal (and other important factors to consider), it is *not proper* in this or any other AA forum to imply that folks who tweak, build, or otherwise advocate DIY AC delivery projects are somehow reckless in nature, and that everyone should stop designing/constructing AC delivery gear as part of the audiophile hobby.
I suggest you put things in proper perspective.
