It was several years ago. Having much experience with many edge of the art tweaks, I would say that its effect was subtle but there. I have since changed phones and have not redone the tweak.

He says it worked. I can't imagine what non-placebo effect it could have other than to perhaps run some kind of frequency sweep on your ear (in which case I would think it would be beneficial to do both ears).

  How does the so-called placebo effect account for magnitude of improvement or with some tweaks hearing no improvement? The placebo effect is misunderstood by most uninformed people as a quick explanation for what their limited understanding of science tells them is impossible.
