Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had a success/experience on these caps in speaker crossovers as bypass caps for bigger values. I have upgraded my Xover caps to Mundorf Mcap ( white color ) . Planned to get the Silver in Oil but no budget :( ). I want to bypass the Mundorfs using these caps. I have 2 pcs 10uf ( in parallel ). What FT3 values should i get ? 0.01uf or 0.1uf ?
cheers ,
JM

I used them on my tweeter crossover caps with great success. I also tried them on the mid/woofs and wound up taking them off of there. Not so good on the lows and they did something wierd to the crossover point that made the speaker disjointed.
Good luck

I used 0.1 uF FT-3 bypasses in my custom speakers, and it was a real improvement. I have ribbon tweeters, and the top end just became more focused, sparkly, yet more liquid and smooth at the same time. Neat trick!
Get both the 0.01 and the 0.1 µf capacitors. Use the 0.1 µf caps first to bypass the 10 µf cap. Then listen for a while. Then bypass the 10 µf and 0.1 µf caps with the 0.01 cap.
To me everything sounds crisper after the bypasses have been added. The bass has more impact, i.e. the drums sound more percussive, and cymbals will sound more life like. Things will sound better, yet, when you add the subsequent bypass cap.
Teflon caps take quite a while to settle down (100 hours or more). So be patient. Listening to Teflon caps while they are burning in can be quite a roller coaster ride. The caps will sound terrible, then great, only to sound bad again. After 100 hours is when they seem to settle down. The longer they are in the circuit the better they sound.
If you order smaller values of Teflon caps as additional bypass you will reap subtle improvements. The improvements of additional bypasses are never quite as pronounced as the first one, but your ears will tell that something good is happening.

DaveT,
Thanks for sharing your experience on these caps. I will be using them to bypass Tweeter Xover capsn ( caps are in series to the tweeter ). 0.1uf FT3 Teflon caps are rated 600V while the 0.01uf FT1 / K72P6 are rated 200V. Is 200V safe on this application ?
Will be burn-in these caps offline for 100 hrs + before connecting them in the Xover.
cheers,
JM
