I bought one of these and have not noticed ANY difference what so ever. In fact even when connected to the TV there is no difference in picture quality at all. I also have a Monster HT1000 conditioner, which does show some improvements in picture and in audio.
I also thought the PS Audio product was supposed to be superior, but it seems like its nothing more than a multi-outlet duplex box.

I grow more deeply sceptical of PS Audio with each purchase. (No more of which will be made.)

What other PS Audio products do you own?
I'd like to know your experiences with them....

I bought a Power Port, which is a $50 wall outlet, and sounded bad, and an xStream AC power cord, which was like $700, and sounded bad, (god I am such a friggin idiot...) and I've auditioned their phono preamp, which sounded bad (to me). Also one other product that I can't remember, must have blotted it out of my memory. The Duet, to be clear, doesn't sound bad but it doesn't do much if anything. When I disconnect it, and plug my amps directly into the wall, I get increased punch and dynamics.

Ok thanks for the info....I own a Trio Preamp and a Trio Integrated Amp.
The Integrated took a long time to break in but eventually mellowed out, the Pre seems pretty transparent. Both are on the warm side of neutral. Fit/Finish etc. seems OK except for the Integrated, I had to tighten up the speaker jumpers [one was kinda loose].

It appears that you have four unknowns...
-The susceptibility of your equipment.
-The level and nature of any potentially interfering signals on your power line.
-The performance of the PS Audio unit (no specifications for filtering).
-The performance of the Monster cable unit (no specifications for filtering).
That being the case, and especially if you don't even have a specific problem but were just messing around to see if accessories might improve something, then I think you are doing just the right thing: Try stuff and see what happens.
I don't think it just to draw the conclusion that one product is generally superior or inferior to the other, it's simply a crap shoot with so many unknowns and, since they are unspecified, you don't even get to glean any information about the nature of the problem by seeing which works better. However in most field conditions that's just the way it goes, you take a guess at the nature of the problem and try a potential solution and see what effect it has.
You might want to consider how you formed the opinion that "the PS Audio product was supposed to be superior". Do keep in mind that advertising is aimed at bypassing your intellect and directly tweaking your emotions. Advertising assertions not supported by specifications should at the least be ignored. Since in this case that's all you have, just regard them as black boxes, which I think they actually are, and go from there.
Good listening, Rick
-The susceptibility of your equipment.
My amp seems the most susceptible of all my gear. I can hear differences for example when/if I put a ferrite ring on the power cord. And there recently was a big difference when I changed the outlets in that room.
-The level and nature of any potentially interfering signals on your power line. In my upstairs room the power is horrible, which is why I bought it in the first place. I don't know what it is but I always had problems with some shrillness coming from components in that room. I would take the gear to another room in the house and listen, everything was fine. In that room I could not listen for more than a few minutes. At first I thought something was out of phase or something, but everything checks out. I should note that I recently changed outlets and all the odd shrillness is gone.
-The performance of the PS Audio unit (no specifications for filtering).
-The performance of the Monster cable unit (no specifications for filtering).
Off hand I don't have the spec's for either unit, but both are claimed to clean up the sound.

Did you by any chance use something other than the stock cord? This is highly recomended and 200hrs of breakin time.I just recieved a quintet and noticed a more than subtle change in video and audio performance,It replaces a monster hts 2500. Currently I'm using an older model 8awg psaudio plus cable. thinking of trying an pangea ac-9 though.
I tried a variety of cords, stock a DIY a VH Audio cord and another silver cord. Either way no difference.
The thing is, I can usually tell [SEE] a difference when a connect something to my TV be it a cord or conditioner. But with this nothing.

How long has it been installed on your gear?
I have had the unit for about a year now. Tried it on both systems connected to the DAC and Pre mostly. When I decide to give it a try I usually let it stay in place for about a month or so...
Lately however it just sits in the corner not connected to anything. I should probably sell it...

Out of curiosity I tried a Soloist Premier on a dedicated 20 amp 10awg line on my Parasound Halo A21 what amazed me the most is that it sounded more powerful with deeper bass notes and a midrange to die for Psaudio claims no current restriction, and having it directly from the wall first I confirmed this to be in my case true. I also use a Quintet on second dedicated line 12awg 20amp with a power port premier for a 3channel amp, sub-woofer ,tv and source components and once again precieved increased dynamic range for top top bottom and clear separation between instruments,However Psaudio recomends the duet for amps over the Soloist, only for more enhanced filtering not because of current limitations. the best thing about the Soloist is no powercord to chose.
Just for kicks I connected it to my Aragon amp. I didn't hear any degradation in sound nor any improvements.
Only thing I don't like about that is going through another 6ft length of powercord. Guess it shouldn't matter since its already going through about 40ft+ romex to the room from the breaker box.
For the record I'm not tone deaf, I can hear differences between powercords, and I can hear a difference between the new outlet I installed vs the normal house outlet.

That's good, "do no harm first" is my take on conditioners and power amps, all I was looking for was just some protection when I'am away, but got more out of the Soloist.
For my power amps, they sound better with no AC conditioner.
I would have or use to until I installed the Soloist Premier on my Halo A21 on its own 10awg 20 amp circut, the Soloist came years after the dedicated line, the Soloist revealed a lower noise floor and better dynamics. Shades of mid-bass and lower octave detail i never Knew was there before ,plus the added benifit of not worring about surges.
Hey Mercman, just curious....have you changed your outlets?

I use 3 Oyaide SWO-XXX with the WPC-Z single outlet version mounting frames. Someday when I get motivated, I'll try the Oyaide RH with Acoustic Revive plates/frames.
It didn't work for you, perhaps. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work.
I bought one, and noticed a distinct improvement in my system, especially the phono stage, when using the Duet. The improvement was most pronounced during the day, when I'm assuming the AC is "dirtier". At night, the changes were more subtle.
As with most things audio, there's no "one size fits all" products, especially where tweaks are concerned.
