I have R1s and PPPs in my system, but the only comparison I've done is for a bass amp. The freq range is 16 to 70Hz. The bass is tighter and a shade better defined with the PPP; the R1 is a bit softer in the bass with pitch just a little harder to distinguish. These differences were not large, but easily heard.
Above 70Hz ? My system config makes a fair comparison difficult which is why I haven't done it.
As for break in, I heard changes up to about 120 hours, but not much, if any, after that. Again, this is for a limited freq range, so there may well be changes above that beyond 120 hours.

Thats a good question mabe they will release a special edition like they did with the Soloist Premier.
That's at least some incouragement so far I only have right at about 90hrs, bass is starting to show different shades of definition, highs and mids getting better coherence and an over all precieved loudness. But what dropped my jaw to the floor out the box was the 3d and smooth picture quality.

I didn't realize yours is in a HT; mine are in a 2 channel system. I have a separate HT with an R1 feeding it. I also found more solid images with better color saturation (Panasonic plasma).
Yeah its a multi-purpose room set up for 2 channel music first, surround second its acousticly treated and very well set up. I have to admit next to acoustic treament. Getting the dedicated ac lines, better conditioner and upgraded wall ports, has proven more cost effective than anything in 26yrs. And it has solved many problems i thought would never be adressed.Thinking that by simply changing components and speakers to achieve a more powerful impactful listing experience. The capablities more or less have always been then there, this was like not even seeing the 500lbs elephant in the room! much less adressing it.
Another big improvement is with Alan Maher's AC devices. Try the Infinity circuit breaker filter ($25) on the service entrance cable just before the main breaker. It's as good as the R1s in my system.
