In Reply to: RE: Any tips on twisting a pair of 12 or 10 AWG solid wires? posted by Christopher Witmer on June 03, 2009 at 06:46:04
Clamp one end of both wires next to each other in a vice (or twist the ends together around a post or table leg).
Clamp the other end of both wires in the chuck of an electric drill/screw driver. Pull the trigger.
I prefer the slower speed of the electric screw driver over the drill.
I belive the last time I did 10 meters, I switched the two ends part way through the process.
I lost track of the amount of shortening.
Follow Ups:
same thing when I braid wires, about 1 inch per braid.

1" per complete twist of 10 or 12 ga. solid core wire would be pretty tight especially for the 10Ga.
I would say 2-3" would be more appropriate.
