  I soldered the one side where the two pieces meet. I made the whole thing a bit long to allow forming the piece to the back of the IEC.

    Also forming would mean you could not easily get it off.
    
    At the RMAF I heard a demonstration of a very expensive version of this from Audio Replas. It was staggeringly impressive for as I said "a hundred dollars." Someone also there said it is ten times that much! He was right.

      You can see the wings at the rear that can be easily folded to form to the IEC. The other lip extends past the plastic IEC inlet to contact the metal chassis.
