I put together an outlet box that seems to work pretty well. I used an OdiO case from THL Audio. They have a nice selection of aluminum and copper outlet cases. You have to be careful about not overtorquing the screws on the aluminum cases though. For wire I used Neotech single crystal copper that I got from VH Audio. My own preference in outlets is Hubbell "Porter Ports" that are available on Audiogon. The balance is more full bodied than the Oyaide outlets, but it's a matter of taste and system synergy. For IEC connectors, I haven't found anything better than the Furutech cryoed inlets available from Cryoparts. I went for the less expensive FI-10G gold plated copper inlet. To make the box something of a power conditioner, I added about thirty pieces of topaz to absorb rfi.

As an alternative, the Acme Panel mount IEC receptacle - 10/15 amp style (Series 2) silver plated, cryo'd is $9 from Mike Brinkmann.

I didn't like the silver plated Acme outlets very well. My electronics and speaker tend to be on the analytical side, so in my set up the Acme was pushing in the wrong direction.
I have two of these installed in my apartment. They took a really LONG time to sound their best. My system probably could be said to lean the other way, so perhaps they were a better fit.
As in all things audio, some products work well for some and not for others. I appreciate your post.

Geoff
this is exactly what i like. However, i'm kind of reluctant to over stuffs oversea. Did you order it from USA?
thanks.
The process that they ask you to go through is a little awkward. If I remember, I had to fax the order to them and jump through a few more hoops to complete the order, but the delivery was quick and trouble free. The picture I clipped in my post was of the box that I got and the real thing looks quite a bit better than the photograph. The aluminum is nice and thick and the bevel is much more precise than it looks in the photo. They must have lighted it poorly.
You can get that same box through Ebay. I bought three of these and they were delivered very quickly:
I ended up rewiring mine and put in different outlets, but the seller sent one orange outlet unit by mistake... and those outlets looked fairly nice. Check his "other items" and you'll see that version, along with a nice looking long-style 6 outlet box.
HTH!
I should also mention that the seller combined shipping for me... he only charged one shipping charge for all three.
That's great to hear because the shipping charge is $35. I get a quote from THL...it's the same price but no outlet!
By the way, did they wire as star wiring? Did you replace all the wires?
I see they carry AC plug like Oyaide..great price though.
How did you pay ? paypal? i've never buy stuffs in Ebay, but like to hear from your experience.
thanks.
thanks, Paul.
I have already sent them the request for quote (per instruction). Once i know how much it is in US dollars, i'll make decision. I really like their products (in the picture), but not sure it's cheaper than what we can buy here in the US, for example, Cryo-parts.com also sell chassis.
thanks.
I just looked at the chassis at cryoparts. The cheaper ones ($100) are made out of stamped metal. The Oyaides with thick aluminum are $300. The aluminum chassis from THL are about 1/4" thick throughout and should cost under $100; I would imagine that this depends on the exchange rate. If you get one, be sure to have a metric hex wrench set.
