What make/model power cord with what make/model AC connectors will be placed on the PLC's 20A IEC inlet? This may determine what AC outlet to select to install at the wall. Your collection of 2 Oyaide GX, 1 Oyaide XXX, and 1 Wattgate 381 gold will come in handy based on (again) what make/model power cords with which make/model AC connectors will be plugged into the PLC, and what type of presentation you seek...
Follow Ups:
The power cord is going to be a Synergistic Research T3 UHC. I believe they use a cheap schurter iec and a the Hubbell ac plug. I agree crappy stuff but the overall product sounds very good. You really have to spend money on SR cords to get the nice oyaide stuff. Thanks for any further advice. Best regards Paul
I was leaning that direction (from reading archives) but I wasn't really looking foward to trial and error with 10g in wall wires and outlets.
I have on a t3 on my rotel 1090. The connectors for the price made me wonder ... until I plugged it in. It easily bested all of my diy cords. I remind myself that the late great Bob Crump always voiced his cords Schurter iecs and PS ac plugs.
Thanks again for the good advice.
Paul
A few comments on the SR power cords:
I have had a chance to talk to Ted at length and one question I asked him was why SR used the cheaper AC male/female ends on the T3 and not Oyaide and he answered that it was not due to costs, or a selling price decision, but a voicing decision. Good choice I say!!
I use the T3 on my REL Strata lll being fed from a balanced PC and the Hologram A straight from the wall via an Oyaide R1/WPC-XXX combo that powers the AC regenerator that feeds my CD rig. Once you hear these bad boys in a dialed in system, there is no going back as how they manage to throw a huge soundstage all by themselves is amazing.

Hi Kenster,
I have heard great things about the Tesla PCs and am planning to try a T2 and T3 in the next couole of weeks. As you know, I just bought an Airsine w/Furutech rhodium plugs and have a Tel Wire cord (Oyaide 004's) on the way. Do you have any experience with these and can you offer your take on a comparison with the Teslas?
Thanks so much.
Dave
Hi Dave,
I do use a TEL wire PC to power my amp and it is one of the best power cords available being very neutral and revealing, so much so that it truely just "gets out of the way" and reveals the true sonic attributes of the component it is attached to.
However, the active shielded SR cables are in a league of their own. These power cables make most others sound deflated in that they throw a huge soundstage to whatever component they are attached to. Mind you that care must be taken when mating these cables to components as I found out. Initially the Hologram A on my Walker Audio AC regenerator was not a good match, the soundstage was overbloated and bass was smeared, this in comparison to the TEL wire PC, but fast forward a few weeks after the PC had broken in and a change in my main speakers and hot damn, the Hologram A is frickin' amazing...expensive yes but downright amazing!
It all boils down to system synergy and taking the time to explore power cords/component compatibilty is key to that synergy but the TEL wire and the SR cables live harmoniously in my system :-)
Sorry, no experience with the Airsine cables.
Cheers,

kenster,
You are the second person to tell me that the Teslas are magical in their ability to throw a holographic soundstage. The other guy is using Tesla 2/3 (not the Hologram A or D - like you say, those cords are crazy expensive!), but he has the SR tube power supply on the active networks (this thing looks like it came straight from Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory) and swears that it took the T2/T3 cords to yet another level in his system. He was so blown away with the Tesla PCs that he sold off his collection of Shunyata's within a week.
I have had some difficulty getting my Ayre K-1xe preamp to respond much to different power cords (a sign of a very good power supply design) - although it really likes the balanced-power receptacles of the Furman conditioner with the new (to me) Airsine feeding the Furman. I understand that the T2 is the bomb for preamps, so maybe that would be the ticket between the Furman and the Ayre.
I feel certain that the Tel Wire will find a home in my system. Perhaps on my Ayre CDP, who knows. Chris Kline has been so wonderful to deal with through this whole Hurricane Ike/Fedex delivery fiasco. He is one of the best in the business.
You make a good point about being patient in finding the right PC for each component. There are just so many variables influencing the results - i.e. umpteen different wall receptacles and then umpteen different power conditioners (and their receptacles)and then 20 amp IEC plugs for some equipment vs 15 amp for others and then umpteen different plugs for each cord and then umpteen different pedigree cords and then each component reacts differently to each cord and then...well you get the idea.
I'll let you know how things progress.
Thanks so much.
Dave
Well, I would imagine the Oyaide SWO-XXX would be the best choice to install at the wall. Then, install an Oyaide SWO-GX and a Wattgate 381 gold in the PLC. You will at least have sonic options that can be built upon now and in the future...
