Hi there I am a newbie in electronics diy so please be patient with my questions.
What are the rules for ordering replacement caps & opamps?Formerly i used a marantz cd43, which had a philips DAC if i recall well. Then the sound was poorer but it had more focus.
Would changing all those caps help me get back the focus?
This is what I think is "replaceable":
c527 - 47uF 50V
c627 - 47uF 50V
c201 - 100uF 63v
c214 - 220uF 16V
c211 - 220uF 16V
c209 - 470uF 16V
c204 - 1000uF 16V
c210 - 1000uF 16V
c205 - 4700uF 16Vand what about the values of the replacing capacitors? should they have the exact same value of capacitance and/or voltage? Any particular brand?
How about PSU? it would be a good idea to make a new one I reckon. Any suggestions/designs?
Thanx in advance for your time

What brand of caps are in there now? If it's something like Nippon Chemicon's, you can get a nice improvement by upgrading to Nichicon KZ's & FG's. A quick check of the Pwecy Audio catalog shows you can get those in the exact vales of the caps in there now.
I did just that along with better Op-amps on my Sony DVP-S7000 that I use as an audio player and the audio playback improved across the board. I'm not familiar enough with this stuff to go recommending changing cap values, but you may improve the low end by increasing the capacitance value of the output coupling caps.
While you're at it, get rid of that molded-on stock power cord plug. Even a humble (not expensive) brass bladed plug is better than that stock nickel-plated one. Your CD player will sound much smoother and refined.
Wow that Percy catalog is so VERY UNfriendly... imposible to read through...Have n't these people ever heard of "tables"?!? Anyway thank you for the info, but I still have no idea what op-amps to order. What values should I look for? Is there one per channel?
I know what you mean about Percy's catalog. Personally, I just go straight to page eight for the Nichicon caps. I got my Op-amps from Digikey. Part number LM4562NA-ND. Most Sony's I've seen have four Op-amps. The pair closest to the output coupling caps (pic) are buffers for the D/A converter. Since I was in there, I replaced all four.
Thanks for the info!
Just placed my order for a couple of opamps at partsconnexion, along with all Blackgate STD capacitors to replace stock ones... I will keep you posted.
