Are these parts indicated by the yellow arrows diodes? The first is a Sony disc player and the second is an Onkyo preamp. I'll be upgrading some of the caps and thought I might as well put in some HEXFRED's while I'm in there.

Reuben has a good point here. As long as you are changing the ones on the 60Hz side of the switcher you should be "ok".
The diodes on the output of a switcher are most likely schottky's or some ohter high speed type anyway because of the high frequency. Changing one of these can create more noise because the snubber across that diode was designed to suppress the noise of that certain diode. Different diodes are going to create different switching noise requiring changes to the snubber.
the sony parts are supposed to be schottky's but I've had big gains swapping similar ones for 11dq10's
if you can read the part number just google for the data sheet....though as I say I'd still swap them.
