In about two weeks, I’ll get to see firsthand what all the hubbub is about. Audio Magus is currently backordered, but I was told that the next shipment will arrive in about a week and a half. The only bummer is that unless you’re technically minded and can fashion your own, you’re stuck ordering the AM cord to link the PSU and RR-77, and it costs about a third of what the KingRex does. The stock cord is apparently way too short for most applications. Oh well. I’ll report back once I get the PSU, though I have a feeling a few people will beat me to it. :)
Follow Ups:
The stock DC cord is 21" long. If you simply use the KingRex as a platform for the RR-77, a 5" cord would be long enough.
Cheers,
Robin
I really don’t have the room to place the PSU under the RR-77, hence the need for the longer cord. I’ll probably place the King Rex on the unused bottom shelf of my rack and use the 8’ cord to link it to the RR-77, which is about 6.5’ above it.
Then you can do it the way I did, just make a longer dc cable, the one supplied is 21", ie < 2ft
Unfortunately, unlike many here, my technical skills are severely limited. A lot of this is WAY beyond my understanding and ability. Hell, I don’t even own a soldering iron! So I just ponied up and bought the Audio Magus cord. I’m sure it’ll be good.
Nor do I have a soldering gun. I would have done the same in your sitation but I'm glad I didn't have to. I think the shorter the dc cable the better. I actually had a shielded Nitro DC cable made up from Bolder Cable for my Channel Island ps/Trends UD 10.1 USB transport connection. An upgraded DC cable for a nonaudio component isn't necessary tho.
Cheers,
Robin
