I could use some help with the technical name of this electrical component. It's black with a silver band on one end and the following printed on side. IN 4007 GI.341.
I need to replace a few of these in my phono preamp. Also, where is a good place to obtain this part, my local SF Electronics no longer carries this type of item. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can get a 1N4007 at Radio Shack (or anywhere). The ultra fast series, UF4007 is the same size and rating but a much better performer for only a few cents more.

Thanks guys for all the GREAT advise! I'll look into getting the better component.
Cheers,
Greg
The part is a diode. 1N4007 are fairly common. You may get them from Digikey or Jameco. They may also be available at Radio Shack, but the price will be high for just 1 or 2.

if you replace with the equivalent schottky and possibly hexafred you should hear a noticable improvment in sound.
Dave,
I just went to Digikey web page and could not find the exact part. Can you offer a little more help. I found 1N 4007 but when I add the additional GI.341, nothing comes up. What is the significance of these following numbers.
Cheers,
Greg
Ignore it. That's the manufacturer (General Instruments) and lot date code (year 3 week 41).
