No, the lead content makes it easier on the iron and a standard temperature tip (600 F) for my station seems to work fine.

Hi.
I tried the 3M 0-ring last nite on the volume control knob of my tube phono+linestage. It was too small !
It was my fault not telling you what size of the knob I intend to damp.
Now I find out I need one to wrap around the knob 1 1/8" diameter.
Can you help, please?

of acrylics. Place the ring in a cup of warm water, You can then gently pull the ring out, working around the sides, stretching it until you can fit it over a KT-88. Well, you need not stretch it that much, but it will stretch and then as it cools will shrink back to the original size.
Amazing stuff. f you watch that Discovery channel show Modern
Marvels, they had an episode on sticky stuff, and the section where they cover 3M's VHB (very high bond) tapes seems to cover this material. According to the show it is an acrylic polymer and has tremendous resilience, giving the the tape it's strength. They even show this high rise in Singapore, IIRC, something like 80 stories high, where they were using the VHB tape for bonding of the steel skin to the grid work. I use the stuff a lot for my DIY projects and it works extremely well.
