A number of US HiFi manufacturers used so many of a few types of tubes (audio and tuner) that they had them "house branded" - probably for pennnies a tube. REALLY reputable brands too - Telefunken and Mullard

Scott; Fisher; Bogen/Pilot? Heck Tektronix used probably thousands of Tele 6DJ8's in their scopes and other products.
