I have a reasoably large collection of old Mono & stereo tuners that I still enjoy-
However my Daily Driver, an MR-74 is startig to show signs that it might need some help-
what is the recommended cadence for re-alignment?
The best tech in town retired and closed shop a few years ago, and while I am not opposed to sending it to Vestal NY, that is a long way for a 25+ pound unit...
any suggestions for the bay area?

Send it to Richard Modaferri at Audio Classics. He is the absolute best and the only one I know who regularly improves the great Mac tuners. After all, he was on the design team there when they were made. He did my MR-71 with wonderful results. If you don't have the factory packing, I'd be tempted to remove the glass pieces and ship them separately. You probably know you cannot clean the dial glass. If *anything* touches the writing, even the softest makeup brush, it will flake off. Talk to him first - he may be able to do it without the glass in place. If that's the case, remove the glass and de-solder/remove the pointer. You can adjust the pointer when you get it back - the procedure is in the owner or service manual. #shouldakeptthatone
