You can build a class A amp with a single transistor or MOSFET output stage.Single Ended Transistor?

If you want to stretch it that far, I guess you could, but most would not I think.
Perhaps most would not, but Nelson Pass has been building and selling such devices for years.
I wonder if it sounds anything like it's tube powered brethen?
Sony VFET SET - best of both worlds. Diyable, but VFETs are now in short supply.
Example here:
Build with light bulb resistance load, resistor load, or choke (Hammond 193V) load.
that he cornered the market on VFETs or some other SS device that closely mimics a VFET. Anyway, he has them, so far as I recall.
He bought a lot of Sony VFETs but he did not have enough for commercial production. He then had a now defunct company SemiSouth make a batch of SITs (static induction transistor - also known as VFET or vertical field effect transistor) at a price of $300,000 which he uses in his First Watt SIT amps.
He designed a VFET push-pull amp and in collaboration with DIYAudio, made available his Sony VFETs in a diy kit for diyers (I have one). Apparently he has a single ended design that will also be made available in kit form to diyers soon too.
