Guilty...
I was not aware you had a YT channel going. I will check it out.
Also by the way, now that I have my TC-458 running very well, I decided to take on a new project: Just picked up a TC-580 in original box, stored for a couple decades.
Will probably need a mechanical overhaul but given it's apperance and history, I am hoping the electronics and heads will be in good shape.
I am turning into a mini-khomenko :)

You seem to be hooked... there is no escape now. The machines are going to get more and more attractive and with so many great choices out there your bank account might begin to complain. :)I had the 580 many years ago, I only remember making a replacement head cover for it, and running one extra wire inside, that fixed the problem.
It is a cute machine and Sony quality needs no introduction, but yes, most likely at least some lubing will be required, and capacitor replacement is always recommended on equipment of that age. Their issues can manifest themselves from some subtle sound difference to total silence.

Except the plan is when new one comes in, old one goes out.
Like girlfriends. And sometimes on the same day!
It doesn't work too well.
