We may be talking about different things, but my latest acquisition is here:

I haven't seen one of those in over 40 years.
Nice score!
Along with the Ampex AG-440, they were the workhorses of radio stations back in the day. Do you have an AG-440?

We are inclusive and diverse, but dissent will not be tolerated.
Which is basically the same, but that one has switchable playback heads, you can play either the 2-track or the 4-track tapes.
I also have probably the only 350 in the world with a digital tape counter.
Because I built it. :)
It is not an ideal counter, as it will not automatically detect the direction and decrement on rewind, you have to switch it by hand, but it is still handy and for $15 plus some labor who is to complain? :)

So... you can take it out in your canoe this summmer. :)
all the best,

An interesting machine, a peculiar combination of antiquity with some very advanced features.
Its tape speed "switch" deserves a special place in any technology museum, in their "curiosity" section, but at the same time things such as electronic braking and logic control were way ahead of the standard art.
The audio control panel is taken straight out of the Frankenstein movie, all it needs is a few large blinking bulbs on top. :)
But with FOUR microphone inputs it can be used with no mixer for live recordings.
Shit... that reminds me...

wish my little Crown had head covers. But it was not expensive even after the electonics/headblock visited Chuck while I redid the transport after recapping the SX unit.
Chuck did very good job on this one, it was noisy as a locomotive when I bought it, now it is sufficiently quiet so you can be in the same room, not far from it, while it is playing.
Moving the belt BY HAND for 15 ips speed should be considered a nice touch... a novelty, really, like a steering column mounted gear shifter. :)
