I have a Moth 2a3 tube amp. After taking the top cover off to tighten a RCA plug that came loose, I notice the tops of 4 out of 5 power supply capacitors were bulging/ballooned out. Should I have any concerns on this? What would cause this. The amp is working 100% fine.
The cap. values are 220uF/450V. If I do change them out, should I change for higher value say 330uF/450V? Will it make any audible improvements?
Follow Ups:
I just replaced the caps with 330uf/450V 105C* my old caps were rated at 105C* I couldn't fine any higher temp. rating one. Amp works fine.
If anything, I would consider replacing with higher voltage and temperature rated caps. More capacitance might just be icing on the cake but not the main concern with bulging caps, IMO.
