Purchased VPI RCM on May 5th, paid on the same day. Last email from this seller (Rafael Perez) was May 14th. Product never arrived, no tracking number given if shipped. Paypal claim opened on May 20th. Still no repsonse from the seller.
When I realized this seller wasn't going to deliver, I did some searching and found his name (Rafael Perez of Long Island, NY) linked to a couple of other screen names here and Audiogon. One screen name was usarmy238, and nutofhifi

I've opened a PayPal claim, and with luck, I'll get my money back. It's ashamed that I had to pick a scumbag to have first transaction at audio asylum with.
Follow Ups:
It appears that Rafael Perez deleted his screen name @ Audio Asylum.
Update:
It appears that Rafael Perez did not answer PayPal's request for info (no real surprise there), therefore ruled in my favor.
I've bought and sold many things over the years, and this was my first "bad" transaction. All Rafael did was turn me from a guy who enjoyed buying/selling/trading music/audio gear into a guy who'll less trusting in the future.
Live and learn, huh?
Did you get your money back?

Thankfully, I did. PayPal deposited this morning.
Still no word from Rafael. Posting this only to keep it on top. Paypal is requesting that he respond to the claim that I opened. As of today, he has not responded to their request.
Is $380.00 really worth your reputation?
What exactly was the deal - was it one of those "too good to be true" scenarios?
Well, given how Rafael has handled this, yes, I would say "it's to good to be true".
He offer a VPI 16 that he converted into a 16.5 with the needed parts. He first listed it @ 400.00, and then dropped it to $325 for a "quick sale".
He feedback was good, and I even had a phone conversation (I still have his number if anyone should need it) with him the morning I purchased it.
He explained that he would send it out in a couple of days. After a couple of days, I emailed and asked if things were ok, and that I understood a hectic work schedule. He replied and said that he would sent it out by the weekend, well, that didn't happen.
I gave him a few more days, and emailed again. He replied that work was the cause, and that he would take care of shipping by the weekend (A theme here??). That was 11 days ago. I haven't heard from him since.
I'm not chasing this guy down, I'll let PayPal handle it.
