While you can definitely build a fanless computer, my recommendation is at min PSU(has fan) Processor(has fan) and at least one case fan blowing in since your PSu will be blowing out. If your gonna load up on drives, run video games etc... more fans. I Have 2 fans blowing in from the front, 1 sucking out in back and one sucking out on top. 2 blowing in over my dual video cards(SLI)and of course the PSU is blowing out. they are all quiet 120mm fans. I overclock about 15%.

There was an outfit in Germany making the Hush PC. Looked like a flat server with a lot of heat sink. I had two. No fans inside but many runs of solid copper from the heat sinks to the various components that generated heat. Both failed outside of warranty, of course. I yanked the drives as they were still good and did a postmortem. Both failed due to the pressures needed to clamp the heat pipes to the sources, much like using the goop on the back of the CPU to transfer heat. The circuit boards couldn't take the pressures and bits were yanked right out! A sad, expensive experiment.
I settled on big gaming towers with oversized fans to use as file servers. They were so overbuilt that they pretty much loafed along barely above idle and the fans were almost imperceptible.
Ya my Case is a full tower and can support 10 120mm fans

I like the 10" fans, but not too many cases can support them.
My workstations have 2 - 10" fans blowing in and 3 - 120mm or 140mm fans blowing out (plus power supply and GPU fans). 2 of the 120mm or 140mm are mounted to a 240mm or 280mm radiator.
My dedicated music PC's are fan-less.
