" Just add Network Attached Storage (NAS) and you'll be streaming your music in no time."
I'm not disputing what the author heard but Network Attached Storage is a computer! It can be a dedicated "NAS Box" or a general purpose computer serving as Network Attached Storage. So much for eliminating the computer.
"For people looking to take their computer out of their computer audio, the Moon MiND should be considered a serious contender."
Every "Ethernet Streamer" is a computer of some sort. ;-)
Some of these 'appliances' are ideal for those who want a plug 'n play no brainer solution. Others choose to use a general purpose computers, PC or Mac, to achieve the same result with much more flexibility and ease of upgrading as technology progresses.

We have been through this hair splitting before. Of course a NAS is a computer, so is a Squeezebox, and so is a CD player at this point. You know exactly what he means. Your music library is stored where ever you desire with total isolation. He is talking about freedom from having hard drives and laptops and mac minis or what ever in your hifi room..which many of us want. The MiND is a PURPOSE built audio computer. Not some Frankenstein jerry rigged Staples word processor web surfing machine/

Choice is good.
A dedicated purpose built appliance serves a market for those who don't like computers. But to claim that these devices all sound better than 'music servers' created from general purpose computers is absurd.
Yes, we've been round and round on this many times here in the Computer Audio Asylum.

""A dedicated purpose built appliance serves a market for those who don't like computers""
No, the "purpose" it serves is to play back music as good as, or better than other types of playback transports, etc.
""But to claim that these devices all sound better than 'music servers' created from general purpose computers is absurd.""
No one is making the claim of "all." By pointing out the limitations of computers, - does not necessarily mean that one is "better." The OP in this case is not a "server."
