Greg:
Really hard to get a good pic, but here you go:
The flat wire is folded at a 90 degree angle to itself, then folded at a 90 again. So: it comes to the top, gets folded- then, appx 1/4 of an inch later it gets 90'ed again and heads back down. It's sort of the same thing I used to do to dress and hide the wide IDE cables inside a PC- back in the old days ('06 or so, LOL).
These are 1.5 QR's that are about 15 years old. The QR is a little different from 1.6's in that it's 54", as opposed to 48". It is 1.5" wide, as opposed to 2". Supposedly the MMG's are 38" x 1.5".
Hope that helps, Jeff.

Jeff,
Thanks for the pic, and description. It really helps out.

I suggest you need to get a pic of a current QR model ... as those QR wires seem to me to be laid peculiarly?
Look at the round wires - they follow the lines of holes, between adjacent magnet strips.
Yet the QR wire seems to be (mostly, if not entirely) on top of the magnet strips? Maybe they started off doing this but then got better at it and so ran the QR wire down the lines of holes again? Because shirley that is where they're supposed to be?
Regards,
Andy
Hi:
My pic is a little blurry, but when I use a maglight and shine it from behind through the pole pieces, they line up pretty good. I was very time limited so could only briefly disrupt the space to take good pics. If you still need some I will try later tomorrow evening.
