Ha ha, you just triggered a memory! The night that I went on an unplanned and unwanted first date with my wife. I had been encouraging her to date a friend of mine for a long time. It was not working. One day I had planned to attend this symphonic concert with the girl I was dating, a pianist (not my wife). For very amusing and long to explain reasons, I wound up attending with the "wrong" person instead. (I am now married to her though, initially, I was not happy about bringing her to the concert).
Once there, she noted that some walls in the interior of the concert hall were recently painted. Somewhat annoyed with the developments of the evening, I was in an ironic mood. So, I matter-of-fact explained that the wall colors were chosen for their acoustic properties. She accepted that with just an "oh"! I thought: "can't believe she ate that"! She didn't, but I learned this...when it was already too late.
The colors thing was just one of the many amusing developments of what turned out to be an evening full of funny twists...my pianist girlfriend walked in the hall during the intermezzo...and that was just for starters.
To this day, mention of the colors incident still gets me ribbed for more than one reason. We both have had many laughs about colors and concert halls along the years. Thirty two plus, and looking forward to the rest.

As I recall with large amounts of black or dark colors the listeners perceived a closing in of the soundstage with less high frequency sound, while white was more neutral and yellow seemed tipped up in the highs. The frequency response of the loudspeaker was not altered but the subjects impression of the sound did; much the same as the impact of color on mood. That's why banks choose blue as that instills confidence, pink calms and red agitates. Insurance companies report red cars are involved in more accidents than dark painted cars.
I think it was something like, the psychophysiology of hearing, in the title but I could be mistaken.
Yo JBen, you have 32 years of being together ... or 32 years of wedded bliss? My 30-year wedding anniverary is Dec 2011. :-)) (But at that stage, we'll have been together for 33 years, almost exactly. :-)) )
Regards,
Andy
Ah, let's see. My official downfall started around May 77 and we married a year later. So 33 and change.
Before dating, I had been encouraging for my best friend and her to get together thoughout the previous 6 months, since I "met" her at a wedding. What I did not know then is that she knew me since I was a kid. Such a pretty lady and I was blinded all along...'till the right time came.
The missus and I are only on #28 - we got a late start. I have thinking of dyeing my socks gray to match my hair.
I plan to procrastinate my demise for as long as possible. In the meantime, I practice by putting off all the little stuff.
Oh, you kids! : - ) )
Hmmm, can't let mine read this then. It may give her...decorating ideas. She insists that I will look great when all my hair goes gray. It is taking its sweet time to do this. Yet, every time I have a haircut the inevitable trend is more obvious.
