I know a few here have pulled the resistor out of their PG crossover, or substituted it with a lower valve. I'm not ready to make that decision yet, until the room treatments are done.
And that you can have both resistor and choke in the same circuit, although not sure if they should be wired in parallel or series, or if that matters either. Guess I'll find out when I get there. Thanks
Follow Ups:
It will shunt the resistor in the audio band if you wire it in parallel. The choke's DC resistance is almost zero.
Thanks Al. If I decide to go the full sandbox route, is it OK to bury these with the rest?
Acoustic vibration of the choke would generate audio-band noise. The amp should reject it, but there is always the gap between theory and reality.
The choke needs to be in series with the tweeter (as does the attenuator resistor). The easiest thing to do is to insert the choke between one of the input terminals and the wire(s) that are currently attached there now. Because this is a series xo, it doesn't matter if you attach the choke to the positive or negative input terminal.
I plan to procrastinate my demise for as long as possible. In the meantime, I practice by putting off all the little stuff.
I plan on slapping it on the breadboard, which in turn will be inside an external box (this is the temp. version).
I don't see your Duelund 1.5ohm. PG had without it at one point, then added it. What lower value have others used.

It's on the very left hand bottom corner, kinda blends in with the pegboard.
.
Removing or changing the value of that resistor will change the crossover point of the tweeter. It's not a huge change, but it will alter it slightly. You are free to experiment on your own. You may find that you like a slight alteration in your set-up. This goes for the choke too, see which way YOU like it.
One more Rick. I noticed on some pics you posted that when you had your MMGs, you had the pole pieces back. Was this with the series x-over, and did you start out with them reversed?
I set my frames up so that I can easily go either way, at least until I sock em.
If the pole pieces were "back", I don't think I was using the series x-over. There may be a pic out there where I simply reversed the speakers and temp hooked up the series x-o's. I honestly don't remember.
Once I made the wood frames, the pole pieces were in front and the series x-over was in use.
