Building this as a tribute model. My dad had one in the same color scheme
The old man's car had a Stovebolt six and three on the tree. The kit comes with a V8, but I found a really good 3D printed 235 6-cylinder kit online and that's what my model will have.
The AMT kit is a Bel Air, but I'm converting it to the lower line 210. The interior needs quite a bit of work changing it from Bel Air to 210.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

My dad's car was the same color combo.
The '55-'57 Chevrolets were and still are incredibly popular. GM sold millions of them. The '55 was a total departure for Chevrolet which had become really stodgy.
When I was a kid, family up the street from us had a dark blue and white '55 BelAir 4-door sedan. My dad had the Skyline Blue 210 two-door. Guy down the street had a plain-Jane 150 in Shadow Gray.
Another family had a '56 210 in green and white. The guy's father had a '57 BelAir 4-door sedan in Inca Silver.
Folks next door to us, they had relatives from Ohio who drove a red and white '56 BelAir Sport Sedan. The Sport Sedans were available in '56 and '57 in 210 and BelAir trim. They were 4-door hardtops.
Just one neighborhood in a little chickenshit bedroom community near Pittsburgh.

no one seems to want a four door on any of the carshows. Keep it stock as much as possible, no slicks or scoops out the hood
...but maybe some fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view.
Dean.
reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
Might still.
I built an AMT '41 Plymouth years ago--my grandson has it on display in his bedroom--and it has fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view.

...changing them into 2-doors.
Me, I'd take a 4-door in two shakes of a hamster's tail. You ain't a car guy if you have to count the number of doors.
The model won't be exactly stock. The front suspension is lowered, and the Stovebolt kit has great period hop-up parts with it. Dual carbs, split header. I gotta fabricate a dual exhaust.

I'm happy to see you've apparently avoided an attack by the giant deer that often lurk in your backyard.
Looks good so far.
OMG. Wondered where the neighbor's tree went.
I'm running out of painting days. Once the garage gets below 65 degrees, it'll be too cold to paint.
So I'm building the Chevy ass backwards, starting with the body. Got a '56 and '57 waiting for paint, also another hot rod.
I ran out of primer. More on the way, can't get here fast enough.
