I don't believe your blanket statement about "top end" words without curves and other data are meaningless, especially generalities.
Follow Ups:
is not about FR per se. It most likely a by product of having to use copious amounts of corrective feedback that work well at lower frequencies, but fail up top. Simplistic measurements based on uncorrelated since waves like THD or SINAD tell you very little as to how an amplifier sounds. I learned that as a teenager in the 70s.
The amp lacks air and transparency at the top as compared with other amps I've heard playing same speakers. You hear it or you don't. Bruno Putzeys has moved on to a better design. ;)
More BS. Bruno has tweaked the existing, best selling, design, to add a few more zeros to the specs and had to created even more new test gear to measure it. Have you read his White Papers?
An AB/X test would quickly prove you have a false sense of what is real, otherwise known as "emotional testing" or "Psychological testing."
What you learned in the 70's is irrelevant except to know that all things have been improved in in Solid State amplifiers.
But if you insist, you could always Bi-Amp.
to add a few more zeros to the specs
I think you'll find there's more to it than that. Ask those who have owned both.

Sorry you don't have a good recollection of how live, unamplified instruments truly sound. I know very well the delicacy and airy extension of bell trees, cymbals, chimes, and other high frequency rich instruments. Have many wind chimes myself.
But if you insist, you could always Bi-Amp.
Not using full range stats. ;)
I have full recollection, as I am a trumpet player and drummer too.
However, ALL sound REproduction is one big ILLUSION!
Reason being that individual instruments have a 360 degree output in space that contains varying levels of fundamentals and harmonics and extreme that cannot be reproduced to sound exactly like the original instrument or space when picked up by a single mike or more per instrument.
So your comment is not applicable, since NOTHING can ever sound like the real thing live, EVER.
But we do want the best ILLUSION possible.
So your comment is not applicable, since NOTHING can ever sound like the real thing live, EVER.
Sorry to hear that about your listening experience.
I'm not a numbers only, playing and listening to music for half a century.I did listen to my NC-400 vs. 2 different First Watt Class A amplifiers I used to own. Guess which one I kept!
The NC400 is like Class A with "limitless" headroom on top of the great sound. But hey, like Jack Nicholson's Colonel Jessup said: some people "Can't handle the truth."
But I also liked single ended Triode on my Klipsch K402 Horns on Jubilees with TAD Berylium Drivers (now sold to a guy from Toronto). Their distortion is quite pleasant and adds to the illusion.
Overall crossovers and different rooms made way more difference than the frikkin' amplifiers.
But go right on and Enjoy your ILLUSION as I do mine.

Overall crossovers and different rooms made way more difference than the frikkin' amplifiers.
I eliminate the former and have enjoyed using various room treatments in the dedicated spaces I've used for the past forty years. Pics and details (including in-room measurements for the Schroeder frequencies) are available in my gallery.
Sorry if you're unable to hear qualitative differences with amplifiers in the upper most octaves. They most certainly exist.
