I had PWK's 2PH3 setup with the mono center resistor box for over 30 years until I went mutli channel with Danley SH-50's. Not I have a center for a different reason, namely voice channel for Full 7.4.2 (11 channels and 2 subs) for Atmos.
When I use just R and L with the subs, it's for 2 channel music from the same system! Yamaha room correction works great.
Follow Ups:
Way back when, it must have been '71, I built a KHorn style corner horn loaded with two twelves, which I low passed, the drivers separately connected to the L and R, and a pair of 1x8 bookshelves that I high passed flanking the corner horn. I did it that way because I didn't have room for two corner horns. In effect it was a sub/satellite configuration. It worked quite well, especially compared to the KLH 'suitcase' rig that was all the rage at that time. I probably mentioned before that Henry Kloss listened to it and liked it quite a lot. In return I listened to his office set up, a pair of Advents stacked per side, the upper one upside down, creating a W-T-T-W long before Koss produced the first M-T-M.
You should update your profile. It says you're 59. You'd be 8 or so in '71.
A KHorn style corner horn would be quite an achievement for an 8 year old.
My profile was accurate when I initially filled it out. Not my fault the forum software doesn't update it. I guess that's to be expected when the forum software is almost as old as I am. (Searches for smilie to insert but that's another feature not available here.)
I find your story about Kloss using Double Advents interesting! 😊
