I've never had hi-eff speakers, but when I hear that bass is louder yet less focused, it suggests to me that vibration is affecting low-freq reproduction. I would try some cones, especially if your speakers are resting on carpet. I like the cones to fully penetrate the carpet.
Follow Ups:
for me I have had better success with de coupling cabinets than with coupling the cabinets on most floors(both joist and solid pad). As always YMMV.

I never tried decoupling speakers from the floor, though I have heard that it works well. I know that this isn't the most appropriate forum, but I would be curious if anyone has tried decoupling planar speakers with something under the speakers. You could hang them from the ceiling, but I'm not going there.
all of the Acoustats I ever used including those with custom panels were mounted on a thick flat mdf base plate which sat on my carpeted floor. These when sitting upon a carpeted were decoupled by virtue that they floated on the carpet fiber. I did know people who used spiked feet but I never chose to do so due to the inconvenience when setting up the speakers and adjusting them.

but I definitely liked the result when I spiked my 3.6's thru the carpet down to the concrete.
